Trash and recycling collection delayed one day for holiday

 No-tag week scheduled for July 9-13

 

Trash, recycling, and bulky item collection for residents of the City of Kansas

City, Mo., will be delayed one day due to observance of Independence Day.

Residents who usually have Wednesday collection will receive service Thursday,

July 5. Residents who usually have Friday collection will receive service

Saturday, July 7.

 

The Public Works Department also announced that the week of July 9-13 is a

"no-tag" week for trash collection. This service is traditionally offered around

the July 4 and Christmas holidays to assist citizens in managing excess trash.

 

Southwest High School Planetarium Offers Free Programs

The planetarium has been retooled and is open for public programs. Robert Riddle, planetarium director has established a schedule of programs geared toward both children and adults.

Monday, March 12, 10-11 a.m.

Wednesday, March 14, 10-11 a.m. and 7-8 p.m.

Friday, March 16, 7-8 p.m.

Wednesday, March 21, 7-8 p.m.

Saturday, March 24, 10-11 a.m.

 

Daytime programs are geared toward young sky watchers. Visitors will learn how to use a sky map to locate visible planets, seasonal constellations and bright stars. Trash Collection Delayed

Due to the city holiday on Monday, February 19th, trash will be picked up on Friday, February 23rd, instead of Thursday, February 22nd.

 

Bingham School Property Meeting

There is a meeting to discuss the plans for the Bingham School property which may be sold to a rprivate developer.  The meeting is this Wednesday, January 17th at 7pm at Broadway United Methodist Church.

 

Proposed Dog Park Plan Meeting

Come to a meeting at Broadway United Methodist Church on January 25th to learn more about a proposed neighborhood dog park. The meeting time will be 6:00.

Mayoral Forum

If you can’t make the forum below which includes candidates for all offices in the fourth district, you might be interested in one for mayoral candidates only. It will be at Royall Hall Auditorium on the UMKC campus on Wednesday, Feb 7th at 5:50.

2007 Candidate Forum, January 28th, 3:00 pm, Southwest High School. All Candidates for mayor, 4th district in-district and at-large council seats have been invited to attend. The meeting will be held in the auditorium at this school at 65th and Wornall.

Due to the MLK birthday holiday, trash pick-up will be Friday, Jan 19th, not Thursday Jan 18th.

Due to the New Year’s holiday, trash pick-up will be Friday, January 5th.

January 13th is the last day to drop off leaves and brush at city recycling centers till Sat., March 17th
