We still need lots more of you to help us celebrate our 80th anniversary by helping gather 80 teddy bears to help kids in need. Our firefighters and MAST personnel share a little teddy bear comfort with kids they encounter in their work. Some are victims of or witnesses to domestic violence, some are injured in auto wrecks, and some are burned out of their homes by a residential fire. A soft, squishy bear to hug makes it less stressful for a child who’s traumatized.

We collected bears at our Fourth of July picnic plus cash to buy another dozen but we still have a long way to go. We’ve found a wholesale resource for bears in assorted styles and colors, 10-13” tall who will sell to us in small quantities. I know from teddy bear shopping last month, $5 won’t buy a bear at most toy or discount stores in the area, and certainly not as nice as these.

If you’d like to make things very easy on yourself, just mail a check for $5 and we’ll do the shopping and take care of the shipping. Make checks payable to Ward Parkway Homes Association and put “teddy bear” in the memo line of the check. Thanks so much for your efforts to help.
