Sergeant Damon Hayes of the Kansas City MO Police Department shared some safety tips with us at a recent board meeting on ways we can help prevent thefts and stealing.

·          Don’t leave your car running while it’s unlocked to warm up, even if you’re just running into QT for a cup of coffee. Many vehicles are stolen this way.

·          Don’t leave a laptop, cell phone, wallet or purse  near a window or door in your home where it’s visible and easy to “smash and grab”. These are easy to steal and even easier to fence.

·          Don’t put a purse or wallet on the floor of the car or in the trunk. Take it with you. A thief may be watching you to see what you do, then break in as soon as you leave.
