July 4th  11:00 a.m.

Cathy Barnett and crew invite you to an old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration with games and fun for the whole family.

For the pets… Decorate Fido or Fluffy in the a patriotic costume and win a $25.00 gift certificate from Waldo Pets. Pastor Barry Freese of Broadway United Methodist Church will also be on hand to bless our pets. Keep them all under control please!

For the adults…. Dress up your house in patriotic motif and win a $25.00 gift certificate from Soil Service Garden Center as your reward. Dress yourself as Uncle Sam, Betsy Ross or in patriotic garb-and win a $75 beauty basket of hair care products from Dillards Beauty Salons.

We’ll be repeating our Red White and Blue Dessert Contest. Win one of three great prizes including a  gift certificate from a local restaurant, and a Cuisinart appliance. The only rule is that your entry must be red, white and blue in some way - ingredients, presentation or decoration.

For the kids….dress up your bike or trike to win a gift certificate from Dick’s Sporting Goods. The best entry in each of those category wins, then we parade all bikes and trikes around the school.

Here are the contests and races this year for the kids to enjoy. Prizes awarded to all.

For the older kids

Shoe Kick - Sail that stinky sneaker or stunning sandal the farthest and you’re the champ!

Water Balloon Toss - Catch the most unbroken to win the title!

Ball Bounce - hit the ball tethered to your paddle the longest time, and you win!

For the younger set

Fish Pond - ”catch” a fish and win a prize

Bean Bag Toss - hit one of the target holes and you’re a winner

Prize walk - move around the ring, if the number you stop on is called, you win.

For all…. We’ll be grilling burgers and dogs for all to enjoy when the festivities are over. Stay and visit with your neighbors and enjoy some All-American food. The fire department will be bringing a pumper for the kids to inspect and climb on, and we’ll have music for one and all. See you there!

Afterwards, neighborhood kids can earn some extra spending money by picking up the flags that will be placed in each yard in WPHA for the Fourth of July celebration. After 6:00 p.m. on the Fourth, walk up and down the streets in WPHA and pick up the flags. Earn 10 cents for each flag returned. Keep them flat and unwrinkled. Call Michelle at 444-2159 to claim your money.

Please everyone, be considerate of each other. If you’re going to shoot off fireworks, then clean up the mess you make when the paper debris blows into your neighbors’ yards. Thanks and have a safe and happy 4th!
