In addition, Doug Jackson from Armour Fields Homes Association will give us a progress report on the efforts of various organizations and foundations to reopen Southwest Secondary School as a quality alternative to private education and an asset to the community at large. This school would serve older children with a focus on math and science.
There will be a general meeting following the education forum. Come learn what’s happening within our organization and within our community. Your input at these meetings is important for us to understand the priorities of our homeowners and to shape our agenda for the coming year. Below is the agenda for the meeting. Baby-sitting will be provided for those who need it and refreshments will be served.
· 6:30 - 7:00 pm: Open Forum – participating schools will each have a table with information to pass out; neighbors can speak one on one with the school’s representative · 7:00 - 7:05 pm: Opening Remarks – Pat O’Boyle - Board president, Ward Parkway Homes Assn. · 7:05 - 7:45 pm: Schools - each school has up to 5 minutes to provide a brief overview of their school · 7:45 - 8:15 pm: Doug Jackson – will update us on Southwest High School initiative · 8:15 - 8:45 pm: Board Introduction and Key Focus for 2007 – each committee chairman will speak briefly on the goals and accomplishments of their committee · 8:45 - 9:00 pm: Questions and answers · 9:00 Meeting Adjourned

WPHA Education Forum/Annual Meeting Tuesday, October 10th 6:30 p.m. Broadway United Methodist Church
WPHA is holding an education forum as the main focus of our annual meeting this year. We encourage everyone with and without children to attend, since the quality of local schools is the number one factor that most significantly affects our property values, not to mention the future of our community. Today’s child is tomorrow’s leader.
We’ve invited both public and private schools to send a representative to speak very briefly on their school during our meeting. They will also be available before the meeting to pass out literature to interested residents, and to be available to answer questions. We are pleased that so many of the schools responded favorably to our invitation. The schools which we invited are these. |
