Holiday Lighting Contest
It’s time once again for our annual lighting contest to find the most imaginative, beautiful and spectacular lighting displays in WPHA. Think of an innovative idea not seen before; do a new twist to a favorite theme; or repeat a well-loved design that never fails to please.
The dues-paying owners of the three homes with lighting displays that most impress our judges will be declared the winners and will receive a gift certificate from Waldo Pizza as our thank-you for a job well done. Their pizza has been declared best in KC! Winners will also have a sign posted in their yard declaring them one of the winners.
We will also give a $100 award toward a block party in 2007 for the “Best Block”, where owners on one block carry out the best common theme in their lighting display. Judging starts December 9th and goes on for a few days, in case of schedule conflicts with judges or bad weather. Good luck! |

Once again this year, carolers will stroll around our neighborhood singing holiday favorites. The one big change this year, we hope, will be that more people will join in so there can be additional groups singing for our neighbors. The carolers typically sing on the streets where carolers live, so if you want them to visit your street, join the group or get someone from your block to join. We’d love to have at least three small groups, so if you’re interested, call Alison at 822-2006. Song sheets are provided so you don’t have to worry if you can remember all the words, and a great voice is not required either. All we need are folks who love to sing and would enjoy meeting some more of their neighbors as they sing around the neighborhood, stopping at various houses. The last stop of the day is always at someone’s house for warm beverages and homemade holiday treats. Children are most welcome to come too as long as they are accompanied by an adult. |
