This feature is to tell you about interesting people who live in our neighborhood. Some may have an unusual career. Perhaps they’re won an award, been recognized for an achievement in some area. Maybe they perform a wonderful public service like foster-parenting children, donating gallons of blood to the Red Cross or giving hundreds of hours in community service. Perhaps they’re just totally cool people you’d like to meet!

Tom Hogan is shown at the left with the Kansas City Beautiful Award he earned for his work over the last fifteen years to beautify our neighborhood. As a board member and past chairman of the Beautification Committee, Tom worked closely with the Parks and Rec Department and the Neighborhood Improvement Program for the Ward Parkway median project planting trees, and designing and constructing flower beds.
Tom, his wife Vallie, and their three daughters, Katie, Suzanne and Jessica have lived in their house on Gregory Blvd. since 1978. The Hogans are very attached to their old house and the Waldo/Brookside neighborhood. When Tom’s not at his job with the Environmental Protection Agency in Kansas City, Ks., he’s often found enjoying one of his hobbies; running, landscaping or making stained glass windows.
Tom says “I think our WPHA neighborhood just keeps getting better with each passing year. I appreciate the efforts of my neighbors who give their time to the WPHA and other volunteer organizations that make our neighborhood such a great place”. |
