The President’s Corner

March 2005

As we kickoff another year, I am excited about what I see happening in our area.  The Waldo neighborhood, much like Downtown, is going through a rebirth. The character of the area is driving this activity, and our Ward Parkway neighborhood is a huge part of it.

I have been in this area with my family for just over eight years.  Each year we learn to love this neighborhood more.  Obviously the character is a big part of it – the fantastic old homes, the beautiful trees, the grandeur of the Parkway – there’s a real “old-time neighborhood” feel to it.  But more than any of this, it’s the people.  Our neighbors make Ward Parkway and Waldo so great!

à          Neighbors who volunteer to help beautify the Parkway and our island markers.

à          Neighbors who volunteer to help organize our community-building events.

à          Neighbors who volunteer their time to work with the City and local businesses to keep this area the special place it is.

à          Neighbors who warmly welcome new neighbors to our community.

Ward Parkway is a very special neighborhood, in a very special area.  It’s up to all of us to keep making it an even better place.  As 2005 gets underway, I ask all of you to get involved with our neighborhood.  We always need more volunteers to help out on one of our WPHA Committees.  Working together, we’ll ensure Ward Parkway continues to be the best neighborhood in the city!
