Block Party Grant from

The Neighborhood Alliance

Note: This money is NOT available for 2006, but they are working hard to obtain funding to offer it again in 2007. We will keep you updated.

If you’re looking for a fun way to meet your neighbors, you can’t do much better than having a block party. KCNA (Kansas City Neighborhood Alliance) will give you $100 to assist with food for your next block party.

The first step is to get 60% of your neighbors to approve of the block party.

Next, contact KCNA at (816) 753-8600 or at www.kcna.org/blockparty.html to get an application for sponsorship.

Applications for permits for block parties are available on the 23rd floor of City Hall. After the information is submitted to the city, there will be a $30 deposit required for street barricades, cones and street closed signs.

The barricades, signs and cones can be picked up at the Linwood Multi-Purpose Center on Fridays between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. They are located at 3200 Wayne, Room 212. When barricades, cones and signs are returned, the deposit will be refunded. Be sure to bring a copy of the block party permit when picking up the barricades, cones and signs.

Keep in mind, it is first come, first served. Have fun and get your party on!
